Update 9 - Bergen!

Here’s a mini update on our Bergen weekend. The most awesum weekend yet in Norway. With amazing scenery to boot! No luck with smurf sightings but that’s a good excuse for more Norwegian adventures!

The early photos of a huge waterfall and snowy white landscapes on our train rides there are on my memory card at home so there will be more to show when I get a chance :)

Dan and I caught a train for 5 hours through gorgeous mountains and then boarded another train that travelled down the steep terrain to Flåm.Here is Dan in Flåm! From the top we couldn't see thru the mist but once near Flåm we couldn't believe our eyes!We hung around in Flåm for an hour and I had some soup before boarding our ferry for a 2hr fjord cruise :)Here we are looking like eskimosWe just couldn't believe what our eyes were seeing. The most amazing scenery I've ever seen!We were on the lookout for smurf village. There were a number of contenders...I wanna live there!Gotta luv the 'made in tibet' beanie ;)Maybe we could live here?Or even here...I'm not gonna be that fussy about it.Ok, alright, I'll settle for here.Although it was cold we were really lucky that it didn't rain and wasn't too misty :)The scale of these mountains was incredible. Definitely smurf country.After our most amazing cruise we ended up in...er...Gud..somthing where we caught a bus for an hour back to the top of the mountains.Here you see rainy Bergen. It rains more here than the Amazon I'm told. So what's the deal with the blue skies??We were obviously very unlucky with the weather and fluked some rare sunny days.The next day we went to the renowned fish market and had some fresh salmon rolls.There are plenty of walking trails thru the forest at the top of the mountain so we went for a wander around....and found a lake!On Sunday night we tried a Japanese / Vietnamese / Asian restaurant. The tuna and scallop sashimi melted in our mouths...mmm.Hanging out with a troll.We had to get waffles with jam...we LOVE waffles with jam.Bergen was a gorgeous town. It used to be the capitol of Norway back in the 13th century. It's a port city with a lot of history!On Sunday after getting the Fløybanen (tram) to the top of a surrounding mountain we walked back down and had fish soup and coffee at a cute little cafe.Dan is pointing at our hotel as we walked down the mountain.I love Autumn!And this is the day that greeted us back in Oslo the next morning. Snow! Not that much of it but it was a fun sign of things to come!
